This Day in Wells Fargo HistoryJune 7, 1893

When Adolf Sutro wanted to write a check to the Sierra Club, he sent the money using a Wells Fargo check. Started in 1892, the Sierra Club organized to preserve what is today Yosemite National Park. Sutro was mayor of San Francisco from 1895 to 1897.
