This Day in Wells Fargo HistoryJuly 13, 1852

Wells Fargo opened its doors in San Francisco. Its first banking customer sent this exchange for $100 to Buffalo, New York. A Wells Fargo bank draft was “good as gold” and Mrs. Sophia Parker had no trouble cashing it at an East Coast bank.
